Today I’m sharing more old school machines because an advantage slot player has told me recently that a machine called “Empire” was still around. Empire & its twin game called “Visitors From an Udder World” was created by the now-defunct manufacturer AC Coin. Over the years they had a working relationship with International Game Technology (IGT) & were known for coming up with some creative as well as entertaining slot machines. Some of their popular titles included Slotto, Bankroll & Cirque De Prime.
Empire/Visitors From an Udder World were unique machines in that they were six individual machines that came in a single circular unit. I suppose this was to encourage a community type gaming feel although each machine was independent. Each machine had nine steps & when the player would make it to the top they would be given a bonus round where credits as well as the possibility of multipliers awaited.
To climb the steps players needed to get two or more bonus symbols on reels two through four. Two symbols would move the King Kong/spaceship one step. Getting three symbols would automatically move the player straight to the top & bonus where the player would be guaranteed to be awarded at least one multiplier. Another kicker to getting three bonus symbols is that the player would be returned to the same level they were at when they triggered the bonus at its conclusion. When reaching the top step by getting two symbols, the player is returned to the bottom after the bonus is concluded.
How to Advantage Play & “Beat” Empire/Visitors From an Udder World.
First off, you must bet the 125 credit max to be eligible to move up the steps. I remember seeing so many players who would bet 25 or 75 cents, get two or three bonus symbols & look around confused because nothing happened. Ideally what you’re looking for is to find empty machines that are one or two steps away from the top. Three steps away from the top isn’t great but I’ve played them enough to believe that it’s still profitable. Also keep an eye on players who get three bonus symbols. I’ve seen several gamblers in the past who left machines after the bonus & didn’t realize that they would be returned to where they were previously which was often one step away.
As far as what to expect when you’re advantage playing Empire/Visitors From an Udder World goes you can expect a relatively low volatility game. Your wins in the bonus will typically be less than $10 especially if you’re making it to the top with only two bonus symbols. Hustlers are hoping to get multipliers to boost their bonus wins. Getting multipliers is where the money is made advantage playing these machines. As for losses, they shouldn’t be too bad. It’s been awhile but don’t recall ever losing $40 on any playable situation. Expect the majority of losses to be under $20.
There’s a story about years ago about Empire that was mentioned to me by another slot hustler that may just be an urban legend. He claims that there was a multi-denomination version of Empire in a particular casino that hustlers were able to exploit & make hundreds of thousands of dollars off the machines. What they did was play the machine straight from the bottom on penny denomination until it was one step away from the top. Then the hustlers would switch the denomination to the highest available, get the bonus, switch back to pennies & repeat the process all over again. You can imagine how this would tip the scales in the hustler’s favor. Allegedly the hustlers were able to get away with this for about a month or so before the casino caught on. Who knows if this story is true, but I’ve heard a lot of crazy stories & I suppose anything is possible in a casino.
