About a decade ago the advantage slot machine landscape was in rough shape. Many of the really profitable games were disappearing nationwide & it is a rough time for slot hustlers in the casinos. However, upstart slot manufacturer Aruze unintentionally helped hustlers tremendously during this time by introducing a concept called “Rescue Spin.”
No one likes to play on a video slot machine & be unfortunate enough to spin hundreds of times & never get the bonus. That would be enough for most players to leave the machine disgusted & vow never to never play it again. The idea behind the Rescue Spin was to reward players who stayed determined to get the bonus. How? By giving them a guaranteed free spin bonus if they were unable to trigger it themselves within a certain number(usually 500) of spins.
As you can see in the picture above the countdown meter, indicating the number of spins remaining to trigger the Rescue Spin is located on the right side of the screen. In addition to being given free games, a 500-2000 credit bonus(depending on the game) would too be awarded for reaching the end of the countdown.
The Rescue Spin free games are also different from the regular free games in two ways. One is that the Rescue Spin free games contained either extra games or more wilds(depending on the game). Two, & definitely more significant to note is that there is a multiplier associated with the Rescue Spin. This multiplier represents the average bet per line for every spin played. So if a player were to minimum bet throughout & made it to the Rescue Spin, the multiplier would be 1x whereas a max bet throughout would make the multiplier 5x.
So where’s the advantage & how do I beat Aruze’s Rescue Spin?
Ideally you’d wish to find an abandoned machine with 1 spin to go with a 5x multiplier. Realistically 200 spins or less remaining is a good baseline for what you’re looking for. Take into account the multiplier. If it’s low like 1.00-1.5x, I’d wait for the number to go down to 150 or so. If the multiplier is over 3.5x, I’d take a shot at around 225.
When playing, it’s best to minimum bet. I’ve seen many advantage players when the multiplier is high, try to keep it high by betting more. I’m guilty of doing this as well. You can see it in the picture above. I was betting $1 and not the minimum of 50 cents. You don’t have to do this. The goal should be, as with most advantage machines, is to invest as little as possible to get what you’re going after.
Upon reaching the Rescue Spin or if you trigger the regular free games before that, the countdown will reset. Obviously this is where you cashout & leave. On some machines the Rescue Spin must be activated manually. To do this touch the Rescue Spin button on the bottom of the screen. Doing this will cost you a measly 5 cents but it is definitely worth it as you may get a advantage play opportunity in the future as the Rescue Spin cannot be deactivated & will stay on until the next bonus.
The Aruze Rescue Spin was once a very common video slot machine in casinos. It isn’t anymore but it isn’t nearly as rare as say the S&H Green Stamps & is still in existence in some casinos.
