I travel a decent amount & if there’s a casino near where I’m travelling, I’ll drop in to see what advantage machines it may have. Recently, I was in a spot in the middle of nowhere & I happened to run into a machine created by Aristocrat titled “The Red Empress.” As I walked around a bit more I saw another titled “The White Wizard.” As it turned out both of these slot machines have been around for several years. The Red Empress & The White Wizard are identical in their premise & gameplay, just in different skins.
Now what caught my eye when I stumbled on these two machines was a counter on the upper screen. My slot AP senses immediately started tingling. The meter had to hit before 2000 & initially thought that it represented a credit prize. Upon closer inspection it was not a credit prize. In actuality, what the meter did signify was a chance to trigger the bonus.
It takes eight or more flower symbols on a spin to trigger the free spins bonus. On spins where fewer than eight flowers appear, those flowers are added to the meter which must trigger before it hits 2000. When triggered the player is taken to the mystery pick feature & asked to choose 1 of 5 symbols. If a flower is revealed the player is automatically taken to the free spins bonus. If no flower is revealed, the mystery pick feature is over & the meter resets to 1560.
How to advantage play & beat The Red Empress/White Wizard
Truthfully, I basically had a cup of coffee with these two machines as I was on the move. So I honestly don’t know what represents a solid playable situation. I experimented by playing several times at around 1900 & at 1925. I came out ahead a decent amount at 1925. However, a few plays is not enough to come to a decisive conclusion.
Each bet has its own individual meter. To find these meters cycle through the game menu on the bottom left of the screen. There you’ll find where each of the meters stand.
Think of this post as a heads up. If you happen to find The Red Empress or White Wizard at your local casino then play around with it to find out what a good number to take them really is. Also of note is that while playing I once triggered the bonus by getting the 8 flowers. This does not reset the meter. So continue playing the machine if you have what you believe is a good number.
The idea that you are not guaranteed the bonus when triggering the mystery pick is a bit concerning. In fact your chances are only 1 in 5. However, the flowers do show up fairly regularly so it doesn’t appear that playing & choosing incorrectly, while disappointing would break a bankroll. Youtube videos of Red Empress/White Wizard also appear to indicate that there is strong potential for big bonus round, largely due to the expanding reels in the later spins of the bonus. In conclusion, these are two machines worth checking out.
